RemesAmericas on May 6th & 7th, 2010 was organized by the IDB - Interamerican Development Bank - and MIF - Multilateral Investment Fund- a Remittance Summit held in Mexico City. We organized IMTC MEXICO 2010 as a one day conference, in collaboration with Remesamericas the day before the start of the conference on May 5th, 2010.
The Conference was held under a round table-panel format which allowed attendees to participate and ask/answer questions in a dynamic setting. IDBs idea behind inviting us to hold this conference was to make sure the industry felt welcome to a summit where remittances and money transfers were going to be the main topic to be addressed. IDB's focus on remittances for development and the industry's perceived favoritism of Banks and Microfinance Companies over MTOs - Money Transfer Operators - was openly discussed during the round tables. We will returning to Mexico and organizing our IMTC MEXICO Conference in 2013. We hope to make this a bi-annual conference.
