Money Transfer and Foreign Exchange Regulation Seminar in IMTC WEST 2012
All Compliance Managers, Compliance Officers and Business Development Executives of companies that are part of the Financial Services Industry, need to have a basic knowledge of Money Transfer Regulations, not only from the countries where they are based but also from the countries that they do business with. The lack of knowledge not only can imply a risk but also a failure to seek the opportunities that might be present elsewhere. There will be English and Spanish translation.

Morning Sessions: Any MT company in the world MUST understand US Money Transfer Law. That will be the first part of the Seminar. Most companies do not realize the extent to which they – and their assets – are within Uncle Sam’s grasp. New regulations and recent developments in case law have dramatically expanded US jurisdiction and, with that, the number of financial institutions worldwide that are subject to the requirements – and penalties – of US law.
At the same time, the ever-tightening US regulatory environment has made it more and more difficult for Money Transfer and Foreign Exchange Institutions - and small Banks too - to maintain some of their long-standing relationships with US banks, due to the perceived risks of the Money Transfer and Foreign Exchange business. Beyond AML, financial services firms also face increased responsibilities regarding state licensing, consumer privacy and transparency concerns, and many other areas of US law. Learn the highlights of US State Laws, Federal Laws and the new trends in regulation that might affect your business.
Afternoon Sessions:
- European Regulation has had dramatic changes in the last few years. Payment Service Providers are covered by the EU Payments Regulation and the Transfer of Funds Regulations. The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) initiative is making all electronic payments in the region "domestic" - no difference between national and intra-European cross border payments. That has opened many concerns but has also opened a vast array of opportunities. Our Europe regulation session will explore the coming challenges in the continent.
- Canada is one of the countries that has seen significant changes in regulatory practices in relation to financial transactions reporting, MSB registration and where there is an ongoing public/private work on the future changes of the regulations in place. This and more will be covered by this session.
- Mexico has been moving between the need to set more flexible rules to financial institutions to promote financial inclusion, specially its large remittance receiving population while at the same time implementing more and more controls to comabt money laundering and the war on drugs. This and more will be covered by our mexican regulation session.
- IMTC Brasil show us how the country has evolved and what lays ahead. Get a brief summary of the regulations in place, the challenges ahead, the view of how the world cup in 2014 and the olympics in 2016 will bring large opportunities for Foreign Exchange and Money Transfer firms.
Not only we have great speakers and great content... networking will be as valuable! A detailed AGENDA of the MTXS Seminar is here
